Score Reporting Procedure
THE WOYSA PHILOSOPHY -
We are a “recreational” soccer program with the goal of providing
an enjoyable soccer experience to all players and parents involved
in the organization. As such, it is intended that all players,
regardless of ability, be given an equal opportunity to enjoy
the game of soccer.
In the spirit of that
philosophy, WOYSA will begin to monitor game results during the
2010 Spring Session. The sole intent of gathering this information
is to allow WOYSA to monitor game results and address any significant
disparity in scores. League standings will not be maintained.
The following outlines the
responsibilities of Coaches, Division Coordinators and the Recreational
Division Director.
• The Head Coach of each team is required to report their game’s result
to the appropriate Division Coordinator by the Monday following their game.
Scores can be easily reported via WOYSA’s “Contact” page on the WOYSA.org
website. Each Division Coordinator’s e-mail address is provided as a link.
• Each Division Coordinator will provide a weekly summary of scores to
the Recreation Division Director by the Wednesday following each week’s
games.
• The Recreation Division Director will review the scores of each age
level and identify any significant goal disparities on a weekly basis.
The Recreation Division Director will communicate specific concerns
with the Executive Board and appropriate action will be taken to insure
that the spirit of WOYSA’s philosophy is maintained.
Misconduct of Coaches and Assistants
"WOYSA does not tolerate any argument with or
harassment of referees, players, or opponents. If
you observe a coach, parent, or spectator engaging
in such conduct, we ask that you attempt to
intervene in a calm and reasonable manner, or
contact a Head Coach or a WOYSA Board Member
immediately. The WOYSA Board has formed Conduct
Review Committee which will consider legitimate
issues of misconduct concerning coaches and others,
and will take appropriate action which may include,
if deemed necessary, termination of the coaching
privilege.”

Three Goal Deficit Policy
Upon
reaching a three-goal deficit, the trailing team
would be allowed to place an additional player
on the field. The additional player may remain
on the field until the score of the game is
tied, at which point the additional player must
be removed from the game so that both teams
again have an equal number of players.
If
an additional player cannot be fielded due to
the lack of additional players, the coach of
the leading team must remove one player until
such time that the score is tied.
If
the goal differential continues to climb, at
five points the team in the lead shall remove a
player from the field. The leading team may
return the player to the game when the
differential returns to four points.
This
rule is not meant to mitigate the coaches
responsibility to take any other measures
necessary to keep the game's final score within
a 5 point differential.
Cancellation of Games
Every
attempt should be made to play all games as scheduled. We are
limited in the number of fields available and the amount of time
they can be used. Poor weather is generally not a valid reason to
cancel a game, unless it would create an unsafe condition for the
players or if the fields could be severely damaged. This
determination is generally to be made by agreement between the
coaches who are present on the field prior to the scheduled start of
the game.
If due to weather or any other
unforeseen circumstance, a game must be rescheduled, it is your
responsibility to contact the Director of Referees and the Schedule
Coordinator for notification of the canceled game and to
reschedule. Also, be aware of whether you were to be
responsible for set-up or take-down of nets, and then make
appropriate arrangements to assure your responsibility is
covered.
